Late 18th century burr elm desk box, bible box, original hinges

A rare late 18th century English 'bible' box made almost entirely from the most amazing pieces of solid burr elm, even at the back (the base being the only piece that isn't), retaining its original wrought iron hinges and lock, though the hasp at the top is missing, as well as its original nails and fixings. No notable repairs, just some bumps and chips, as to be expected. Some evidence of historic wood worm, especially to the top, but no longer active and has been treated by our own workshop as a safety measure.A really top end piece of country furniture, must have been expensive when made.
