A strikingly original and rare diminutive size English late 17th century bible box, unusual in not only its small size but also in it being painted pine, rather than the usual oak or elm. Retaining its original wire hinges and its original forged iron lock and hasp, with a later 19th century scumble paint over an earlier light blue pigment, and later printed Victorian paper lining.
