An unusual and atmospheric early 18th century (c.1710) oil on vellum portrait of a woman, apparently a missionary, with crucifix around her neck, North American provincial school. Obvious age and subsequent craquelure to the surface of the vellum, but doesn’t detract too much from the image. Housed in an antique frame, behind glass. Old dealer label to the back.
