A great and very expressive late 16th/early 17th century carved oak grotesque corbel of a man with leering grin, great all over patina and traces of original paint on the eyes. Probably of Northern European origin. Looks to have been cut down at the back from a larger piece, with a later loop fixing for wall mounting. H 18 cm x W 9.5 cm x D 8 cm
