An unusual little oil painting on wooden panel, 18th century or earlier, featuring three grotesque faces one of which appears to be a monk. Bares resemblance to the kind of compressed mask-like faces seen in crowd scenes in some early Netherlandish art. The shape would suggest it may once have been part of something bigger.
